12 event feedback questions venues actually use

Written to be answered with a thumb, standing up, drink in hand. Grouped by moment — because a question that works at 21:30 dies at 10:00 the next day, and vice versa.

One rule before the list: never ask more than two at once during the event. These aren't a questionnaire — they're a menu. Pick per zone and per event, rotate the rest.

During the event

01–06
01

“How's your night so far?” 1–5 + COMMENT

The workhorse. The zone tag and timestamp do the analytical work; the guest just has to be honest for one tap.

02

“How long did you wait to get served?” <5 / 5–10 / 10–20 / 20+

Turns grumbling into a number you can staff against. Bar zone only.

03

“How's the music right now?” 1–5

“Right now” is the point — music is judged by the hour, not by the night. Trend it against the set times.

04

“Anything we should fix right now?” SHORT TEXT

The alert generator. “Right now” filters out life stories and pulls in the fixable: broken tap, blocked door, dead speaker.

05

“Was it easy to find your way in?” YES / NO + TEXT

Entrance zone, first two hours only. Catches signage, queue, and door-staff issues while the door is still busy.

06

“How's the temperature in here?” TOO HOT / FINE / TOO COLD

The cheapest fix in the building — one thermostat, one fan — and nobody volunteers it unless asked.

At close

07–09
07

“Would you come back?” YES / MAYBE / NO

The only loyalty question that matters tonight. Watch the “maybe” share — that's your fixable middle.

08

“One word for tonight?” SHORT TEXT

Fastest possible open text. The word cloud across a season tells you what your venue actually is.

09

“Did anything almost ruin your night?” SHORT TEXT

“Almost” unlocks polite guests. People who'd never complain will happily tell you what they forgave.

The day after

10–12
10

“What's the one thing we should fix before next time?” SHORT TEXT

“One thing” forces the guest to rank — which is exactly the work your debrief needs done.

11

“What should we never change?” SHORT TEXT

Builds your don't-touch list — the guardrail that keeps next month's improvements from breaking what works.

12

“How likely are you to recommend us to a friend?” 0–10

Use it as a trend line across events, not a grade. The absolute number means little; the direction means everything.

Where these live: 01–06 behind your in-venue QR codes, 07–09 near the exit and coat check, 10–12 in the day-after survey. Never all twelve anywhere.
